A Joule Assistant coordinates work for a role. A Joule Agent carries out one task. Joule Work is where a person states the goal, and the Joule Orchestrator routes that goal to an assistant. Autonomous Enterprise is the direction SAP describes for this. The names a program can schedule are the assistants, the agents, and the workspace.
The question this month is which names a team can use now, and which ones have a date. This piece maps the assistants, agents, and orchestrators SAP dated at SAP Connect in October 2026, by product and, inside SAP Cloud ERP, by line of business. It leaves out AI Unit pricing and how to build an agent.
What is available
SAP's Connect innovation guide says general availability for Joule Work, Joule Studio, and the SAP Autonomous Suite assistants starts in October 2026.
**Orchestrators.** Joule Work is live for 110,000 SAP employees. SAP reports a 20% productivity gain across finance, HR, and procurement inside SAP. A select group of customers is using it. Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen is in the desktop early adopter program. The 8 October post still sets the general customer rollout for later in October. No SAP News post since then has said that rollout is complete. Joule Studio, where customers build and extend agents, is still described as soon to be generally available. Sapphire expected that in the third quarter of 2026. The October post does not confirm it. SAP AI Agent Hub is generally available: one inventory for agents, models, and MCP servers. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard agents use to reach tools and data. The 6 October press release places that inventory in SAP LeanIX. WalkMe AI insights and AI authoring are generally available. So is SAP Reltio in SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC): one record for customers, suppliers, products, and employees.
**SAP Cloud ERP Private.** Joule integration is in Early Adopter Care, SAP's program for a limited set of customers before general availability. General availability is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026. The 2025 FPS02 feature pack, released on 13 October, adds its own agents and AI-assisted capabilities for planning, period close, working capital, tax, sales-order issues, and quality certificates. Those are in the release. The named Connect assistants below keep their own dates.
**Finance and trade.** Assistants for overhead accounting, revenue recognition, pricing, disclosure, and project management are planned for Early Adopter Care in the first quarter of 2027, and the guide lists a Quoting Assistant on that same date. Early deployments of the International Trade Assistant are underway. SAP reports them cutting trade-classification effort by up to 50%. General availability is planned for the fourth quarter, with the Governance Assistant. The Access Governance and Security Assistant, for people and AI identities, is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
**Supply chain.** Six assistants from Sapphire gain new capabilities, with general availability planned for the fourth quarter: Product Design (compliant product changes), Supply Chain Planning (exceptions in one workspace), Manufacturing (plant-floor disruptions), Logistics (warehouse, fulfillment, and transportation), Asset Operations (maintenance requests), and Business Network (supplier collaboration).
Doehler, a global ingredients producer, is already using a logistics issue-resolution agent. It finds the cause, recommends the fix, and turns a multi-hour firefight into a one-click decision. The team has recovered about a third of the time spent troubleshooting. Takeda says it will use the Supply Chain Planning Assistant. The guide says a biopharmaceuticals company is already using that assistant.
**Spend.** Novartis has a pilot of the Joule Sourcing Assistant. The Contingent Workforce Assistant is planned for the fourth quarter. The Spend Analytics Assistant is planned for the first quarter of 2027. Moody's supplier-risk data in SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance is planned for the fourth quarter.
**SAP SuccessFactors.** Assistants announced at Sapphire for payroll, HR service, learning, recruiting, onboarding, and career and development are available this month, the 7 October post says. The Workforce Planning Assistant, on SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Fieldglass, and SAP Cloud ERP data, is planned for Early Adopter Care in the fourth quarter. The guide puts three newer items later than that post's "available this month" heading: the U.S. benefits admin console in the fourth quarter, WalkMe Learning Arc with SAP SuccessFactors Learning in December 2026, and U.S. benefits decision support in the first quarter of 2027. The TechWolf acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approval. Skills planning in SAP SuccessFactors waits on that close.
**Customer experience.** Campaign, Content, Shopping, Incentive Compensation, Service Planning and Operations, and Quoting Assistants are planned for general availability in the first quarter of 2027. SAP Commerce Cloud, cloud ERP edition, is generally available now, using SAP Cloud ERP for price, stock, orders, and invoices. Joule Agents in SAP Order Management Services, for orders across SAP S/4HANA and other ERP systems, are planned for that same quarter.
**Measurement and industry.** SAP Signavio agent mining and agentic process consulting are planned for the first quarter of 2027. Industry AI for asset-intensive, commodity, energy, and retail work is planned for the fourth quarter, and automotive for the end of the first quarter of 2027.
Background
At Sapphire in May 2026, SAP named a wide set of assistants and agents and said they would roll out through the end of the year. A program could list the names. A steering committee still had no test date on a process.
A planning call, a plant call, and a logistics call can each be sound and still miss one another when the handoff stays with a person. The dated names are where an assistant is supposed to carry that handoff inside a process the suite already runs. Joule Work, including a mobile app generally available since July, was the early-adopter workspace. October puts the general customer rollout on this month and leaves most new process coverage on a later quarter.
How it works
An SAP product expert laid out the path from a typed request to a system update in three roles.
Step 1, the Joule Orchestrator. It reads the request, checks what the person is allowed to do, and routes it to the matching assistant. It does not run the process.
Step 2, the assistant. It decides what "done" means, picks the agents, and can change the plan when the evidence changes. In the manufacturing example from that post, a first plan calls an inspection agent. A finding of contaminated supplier material swaps in a supplier agent instead.
Step 3, the agents. Each has a narrow job in one SAP system and returns findings. The assistant shows a recommendation or takes an action the person has authorized. Customers set that level, the 6 October press release says.
Both roles are built in Joule Studio, run on SAP Business AI Platform, and register in SAP AI Agent Hub. The Agent-to-Agent protocol is how an assistant discovers an agent, sends a task, and receives progress. MCP is how the agent reaches an API or a data product. In practice that means a planner states the outcome once, and a person still approves the action that needs a decision.
Why it matters for SAP leaders
- A workspace goal this quarter follows the October Joule Work rollout. The 20% figure is SAP's result inside SAP, next to a small set of early customers.
- A 2026 supply chain goal follows the fourth-quarter date on the six assistants. Doehler's logistics result is already in use.
- Finance close, quoting, and the new customer-experience assistants sit in the first quarter of 2027.
- SAP Cloud ERP Private can join Early Adopter Care for Joule now, with general availability planned for the fourth quarter. SAP AI Agent Hub is available now. Access control for AI identities and SAP Signavio agent mining wait until the first quarter of 2027.
Near term
Sort the map into three clocks before the next planning meeting: already running in a named process, available to customers this month, and dated for the fourth quarter. The fourth-quarter cluster is supply chain, trade and governance, contingent workforce, SAP Ariba risk data, SuccessFactors planning and U.S. benefits, Learning Arc in December, and Joule on SAP Cloud ERP Private.
Longer term
The first quarter of 2027 holds finance Early Adopter Care, spend analytics, access control for AI identities, the customer-experience assistants, order-management agents, U.S. benefits decision support, and SAP Signavio agent mining. Automotive industry scenarios land at the end of that quarter.
Open questions
Joule Studio's October wording is still "soon." Sapphire expected general availability in the third quarter, and that confirmation has not been published. The Quoting Assistant is listed twice for the first quarter of 2027: Early Adopter Care under finance, general availability under customer experience. The SuccessFactors post and the guide disagree on the benefits console and Learning Arc. Takeda "will use" the planning assistant in the news post; the guide says a biopharmaceuticals company is already using it. Nestlé's Accounts Receivable Assistant and PwC's Billing Assistant get no new date in the guide. Sapphire planned bidirectional agent-to-agent for the fourth quarter of 2026, and the October posts add no separate availability line.
What to do this week
Ask each line-of-business owner to mark this map in three columns: in the landscape this month, dated for a release the program will test, and outside the program's scope. Bring the marked copy to the next steering committee, before a fourth-quarter plan is written down as available.
