Connecting an agent to your SAP APIs is the easy part. Deciding which calls it may make is the product.
The MCP Gateway in SAP Integration Suite is GA (Premium and Enhanced editions, since July). Product management's explainer is live.
An existing API, HTTP endpoint or RFC becomes an MCP tool once; any compatible agent can call it. Auth, rate limits and monitoring sit in the gateway, not in each agent.
Why this matters if you plan agentic AI on SAP:
- Governance sits where your API policies already live.
- One governed entry point for SAP, non-SAP and external MCP servers.
- Existing tenants need API Management and Integration Cell active.
Ask your integration lead: which agent pilots call SAP APIs outside the gateway?
